Welcome to Bethesda! I'm Tori Dalair, and I'm deeply honored to serve as Bethesda's Chief Executive Officer. It is with great pleasure that I extend my heartfelt greetings to you as you embark on this journey with us. I am glad you found us and would like to share a little bit about myself and our organization.
I have had the honour of dedicating much of my life to the community living sector, and I am deeply passionate about the values that shape our identity. I grew up in a home where people of all abilities were welcome, celebrated, and part of the family. I learned firsthand the importance of creating communities where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Our hearts are most full when we are surrounded by the people we love, experience a sense of belonging, feel safe, and are decision-makers in our own lives.
My journey in the community living sector, including my tenure at Community Living BC, has allowed me to witness the diverse visions, missions, and values of various organizations across the province. In my opinion, what truly sets Bethesda apart is our unwavering commitment to fostering authentic relationships and a deep sense of belonging, all underpinned by our Christ-centered/person-centered approach to care.
It is common to witness profound and meaningful change when someone with limited community connections joins our community. Countless times we have journeyed alongside people as they experience a deep sense of belonging, establish trusting relationships, and are empowered as leaders and decision-makers in their own lives. You can physically observe the power of love and belonging and how they can contribute to thriving. Someone who rarely speaks may become physically joyful, engaging, and outspoken while connecting with others with whom they feel safe and loved.
Every facet of our organization is rooted in our Christian values, serving as vessels of God’s love and uplifting those we serve, their families, and the communities we touch. “Therefore, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people…” (Galatians 6:10). Bethesda remains steadfast in our mission to empower people of all abilities to thrive and foster a deep sense of belonging as we journey through life’s ups and downs together. Our commitment to fostering belonging extends beyond mere words; it is woven into the fabric of our organization, shaping every interaction and decision we make.
By celebrating our differences and nurturing connections across diverse backgrounds, we tap into the richness of genuine community, where collective growth is not only possible but inevitable. We firmly believe that our interdependence, regardless of ability or status, molds us into the people we are meant to be.
As we journey ahead, I’m excited to see all the ways we will share in life together—establishing meaningful person-centered goals and creating a plan to achieve them, applauding and celebrating achievements, problem-solving while looking for solutions, or creating a safe space to share disappointments or sorrows—all the while knowing that you are not just joining an organization; you are becoming part of a family. This family is built on the foundation of love, compassion, and shared purpose. Here at Bethesda, you will find a place where you truly belong.
Tori Dalair stepped into the role of Bethesda’s CEO in March 2024. Moving from CLBC to Bethesda in 2015, she took on the role of Director of Operations. Since 2019, she has served as the Co-Chief Operations Officer. When Tori isn’t busy with her work at Bethesda, you’ll often spot her immersed in nature’s wonders, no matter the weather. She loves activities like hiking, cycling, camping, paddling, kayaking, and more. Most of the time, she enjoys these adventures with her husband of over 15 years and two sons. After the adventure, they often extend their time by sitting around a campfire and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows.
