Bethesda’s summer day camp offers a world of possibility and inclusion for school-age youth with diverse abilities. Children and youth between ages 8 and 18 receive support during July and August. Each child is encouraged to develop their full abilities as they participate in interesting and fun activities and form long-lasting friendships.
Previous experience working with children and/or people with diverse abilities is preferred. You will also receive training and support to prepare and assist you in this role. One full-time position, 40 hours/week, is available from May 5 through August 26. You will be supervised and supported by the summer camp leadership team.
Eligible applicants must be between 19 and 30 years old and hold a Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 4 driver’s licence preferred).
IN THIS JOB YOU WILL
- Plan and lead fun and age-appropriate crafts, games, activities and excursions.
- Assist the summer camps leadership with scheduling, activity planning, and team leadership
- With the summer camps leadership, support, encourage, and evaluate performance of summer camp workers
- Ensure Bethesda policies and standards of care are being followed in order to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for camp participants
- Develop positive and supportive relationships with participants and their families
- Provide spiritual leadership to camp participants, families, and the staff team
- Support 2-8 youth alongside other team members.
- Maintain the health and safety of camp participants
- Receive training and be supported by the summer camp manager.
