Bethesda is seeking an on-site caretaker couple or family for a beautiful and well-established 9-unit townhouse community. Opened in 2016, the Vedder Terrace community has become a place rich in belonging for people with and without disabilities. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the townhouse complex and property.
  • General property maintenance and repairs, and cleaning of common areas.
  • Oversee meal planning, preparation and cleanup for communal evening meals.
  • Monitor and complete safety checks.
  • Develop relationships with the tenants, families and the community.
  • Facilitate community involvement.
  • Assist and respond to emergencies.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities.
  • Provide assistance and growth to the workshop program.

Compensation

  • Annual salary plus free rent including utilities as a taxable benefit on an on-site 3-bedroom suite.
  • Excellent extended benefits package, including pension plan.
  • 3 weeks vacation to start.

Requirements

  • Full COVID-19 immunization.
  • Demonstrated maintenance experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A friendly, caring personality that builds effective relationships.
  • Passion for promoting people’s rights and responsibilities.
  • Education background in mental health, special education, social work or psychology or experience working with people with disabilities would be an asset.

Position Context

This role is suitable for a couple or family. The caretakers will live on site in a 3-bedroom townhouse suite and have the flexibility to schedule duties to suit. This is a pet-free environment.
