Donations help meet the financial obligations of support programs that are not fully covered by government contracts or individual fees.  The areas that Donations will fund include:

• HOUSING: Assist in securing affordable and wheelchair-accessible housing

• FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES: Often described as "whatever it takes", family support services are offered to individuals and their families who are living with the challenges of a disability, such as: Summer Camps; Problem Solving and Crisis Support; Parent Support Groups; Employment Opportunities; Emergency Respite; Supported Independent Living.

Bethesda is a registered charity with Canada Revenue Agency #1067 89928 RR0001 and we are authorized to issue tax receipts for donations received.


 Camps provide fun, recreational and faith-enriching vacation times for campers while successfully meeting the respite needs of parents during the summer school break. Bethesda workers also offer day and overnight excursions to individuals who live independently with minimal support and who have difficulty planning their own vacations. 45 Campers participated in Camp & Excursion activities this past year.

Spending of funds is confined to Board approved services and purchases. Each gift designated toward an approved service will be used as designated with the understanding that when any given need has been met, designated gifts will be used where most needed. Gifts are acknowledged and receipted with a tax deductible receipt.


Bethesda is a charter member of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC).


SPARROWS APARTMENT is a 7-unit affordable housing facility in Smithers, British Columbia that was constructed over a 2-year period and was officially opened to 3 residents in June 2010. Three other residents moved in a year later.


All 6 individuals are "self advocates" enjoying their Supported Independent Living arrangement while receiving support from an "in-house" caretaker couple and from Family Support Workers.


In partnership with Smithers Christian Housing Society (30%), Bethesda (70%) is very proud to have realized this housing option which was paid for with the help of  the kind donations of individuals and businesses. Total cost = $840,000.
