Bethesda hosted a Comedy Night and Auction Fundraiser on October 12, 2017, featuring stand-up comedian Leland Klassen, to support our Tear Down The Stairs campaign.

Why Tear Down The Stairs? As many of the people we support age and their mobility decreases, they need a home they can live in comfortably and safely.  Many now live in homes with stairs, narrow hallways, small kitchens and bathrooms that make mobility and accessibility challenging, if not impossible. We will be selling some of these homes and replacing them with intentionally designed one-level homes. Other homes will be remodelled and upgraded to address accessibility needs.

The Comedy Night and Auction will be our premier event for raising the funds to improve the accessibility of our homes. Housing construction or renovation costs are not covered by government funding, are only made possible with the generous support of individuals and businesses within our communities. In the past, the generosity of donors enabled us to build the Vedder Terrace Intentional Community. This innovative and unique community opened in June 2016 and offers affordable, flexible and individualized housing for 14 people with and without disabilities. With their unique contributions and individual dreams and goals, the residents of Vedder Terrace have created a dynamic and vibrant community. It could not have happened without your willingness to give.

We would be honored to have you attend the Comedy Night and Auction event. It will be held on October 12, 2017 from 6-9 pm at the Gateway Christian Reformed Church, 2884 Gladys Avenue, Abbotsford.

Your consideration and support for our work is very much appreciated. We cannot do this without you!
